The Shield of the “Yes” Promise

Anchoring Scripture

“For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.” — 2 Corinthians 1:20

A Devotional for You

Hi there! Have you ever had a day where it felt like a giant cloud was following you around? Maybe it’s a classroom where the teacher uses a “mean voice” or says things that make you feel small. It can be really scary to sit in that chair and wonder what she’s going to say next. You might even feel like staying home because your tummy gets in knots just thinking about it.

When we feel scared like that, a sneaky thing called “unbelief” tries to move into our hearts. Unbelief is just a fancy word for forgetting that God is bigger than our problems. It whispers, “God isn’t going to help you today,” or “That teacher is too mean for even God to handle.”

But did you know that God has a special book full of promises just for you? He promises to protect you, to give you strength, and to be closer to you than your best friend. Our verse today says that every promise God makes is a big “YES!” in Jesus.

If you feel scared to speak up, remember that God is your Shepherd. A shepherd doesn’t just watch the sheep; he protects them with his rod and staff. You are His little lamb. When you walk into that classroom, you aren’t walking in alone. You are walking in with the King of Kings.

Instead of listening to the “mean voices” or the scary thoughts in your head, try whispering God’s promises to yourself. You can say, “God is with me,” or “Jesus, help me be brave.” When you focus on what God says instead of what the teacher says, your faith grows strong like a giant tree planted by a river. That tree doesn’t worry about the heat or the wind because its roots are deep in the water. You can be that brave tree today!

A Short Prayer Dear Jesus, thank You that all Your promises are “Yes” for me. When I feel scared in class or when my teacher isn’t kind, please help my heart to believe that You are right there next to me. Give me the courage to speak up when I need to, and fill my mind with Your peace instead of fear. Thank You for being my protector. Amen.
