Hey, Future Leader! Have you ever had a HUGE choice to make? Maybe choosing a chore, or picking a spot for hide-and-seek, or deciding who to sit with at lunch?
Grown-ups have big choices too—like picking a job or who to marry! It can feel scary and confusing.
Your grown-ups are learning that the key is to Ask God Before Deciding. They are learning that true wisdom comes from God.
🚨 The “Go Solo” Mistake
When you play a video game, what happens if you run off without checking your map or asking your Commander for the mission details? Mistake! You get lost or hit a trap!
The Bible tells us about the Israelites who hit a trap! They were trying to be smart and decided to make a peace deal with the Gibeonites without asking God. They thought they knew best, but they were tricked! Their failure to ask God led to mistakes. They went solo, and it didn’t work.
👑 The Commander’s Secret Code
We need the opposite strategy, like the super-strong King David!
David was a great leader, but before he ever went into battle, he consistently inquired of the Lord. He asked God what to do and where to go! His relying on God’s guidance led to victory.
- David’s Rule: Never go into battle (or even start your homework!) without checking with the Commander first!
- Your Secret Code: The Commander (God) wants to help you! The Bible says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all” (James 1:5). He gives wisdom without being mad at you!
So, the next time you have a tough choice, stop and ask the best Commander ever. Don’t rely on your own understanding. Your mission is to pray and include God in all your choices.
❓ Your Next Mission Checkpoint:
Think about one small decision you need to make today (like what chore to do or what game to play). Stop, ask God, and then go forward!
🙏 Simple Prayer: Ask the Commander
Dear Jesus,
Thank you for giving wisdom generously (James 1:5). Help me not to go solo! Remind me to ask You before I decide anything important. I trust Your plan, not my own.
Amen.
